It's Festival Friday!Did you ever wonder where the name Chestico came from? On the early French maps of Ile Royale (Cape Breton), Port Hood was named Juste au Corps. This name was given by french soldiers who were quarrying stone from Port Hood and Henry Islands during the construction of Fortress Louisbourg.CHESTICO is an alteration of the French term Juste au Corps.Today, Port Hood celebrates CHESTICO DAYS, a week-long summer festival with events including a golf tournament, horse races, road race, dances, ceilidhs, BBQ, beer gardens, street parade, boat parade, children's games, and more!
