Maxim Cormier

Maxim Cormier is an award-winning Acadian guitarist, composer, producer and educator from Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. Cormier is trained in classical, jazz and world music, and has performed across Canada and around the world in places like Scotland, England, Australia, and France. Having performed alongside Ashley MacIsaac, Beolach, and other talented musicians, Cormier has garnered the admiration of both his peers and his fans.

Cormier won in the Instrumental Category at International Acoustic Music Awards in 2014, and well as “Acadian/Francophone Artist of the Year” at Nova Scotia Music Week in both 2014 and 2015. Past awards and nominations include winning “Francophone Recording of the Year” at Nova Scotia Music Week in 2013, and nominations for “Solo Instrumental Artist of the Year” at Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2014 and 2013, and “Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year” at the 2014 East Coast Music Awards.

When he’s not working on his music, Cormier spend his time teaching others. He has taught at the Gaelic College, facilitated workshops with Celtic Colours’ “Roots to the Room” program, and also teaches privately.
