Whycocomagh Summer Festival

Situated at the head of the Bras d’Or Lakes, Whycocomagh is an ideal location for water activities, boat tours and ceilidhs, featuring traditional Scottish and Mi’kmaq talent. 

Join us for ceilidhs, milling frolic, dances, canoe races, ball, hockey, soccer tournaments, street fair, and concert during the Whycocomagh Summer Festival.

MONDAY JULY 15th

10am-12 pm:            Gaelic Event. Details TBA

12-3pm:                    Free Public Swim at the Fair Isle Motel. Parental supervision required for 12 and under. All welcome

Evening:                    L’Arche Cape Breton Event. Details TBA

TUESDAY JULY 16th:

10:00-12:00 noon:     Crib Tournament at the Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre

1:00pm:                     Songwriting Workshop featuring the accomplished and multiple award winning singer-songwriter, Keith Mullins.
                                   Register by email at whycocomagh.waterfront.centre@gmail.com $10 admission / Youth ages 11-18

2:00-5:00 and 
6:00-9:00 pm:             Silent Auction at the St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Hall; Pick-up – July 18th.

6:30 pm:                     Family Hike on TCT off Johnson Lane(Gather at Fire Hall). Exit at MacInnis Road through Glenview Campground then keep on to Skye River Trail. There will be a Duckie Race off the walking                                          bridge on the trail following the hike.
                                    After hike enjoy a Cape Breton Style Campfire Singalong with s’mores, behind Waterfront Centre – “Along the Shores of Hogoma”.
                                    All welcome; free admission.

 

WEDNESDAY JULY 17th:

1:30-2:00 pm:            Water Blaster; Whycocomagh Provincial Park. Bring your own water gun/towel. Younger children require a guardian. No Charge.

2:00 pm:                    Strawberry Shortcake & Tea Masonic Lodge, Village Road; $5.00

2:00-5:00 and 
6:00-9:00 pm:             Silent Auction at the St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Hall; Pick-up – July 18th.

8:00-10:00 pm           Family Square Dance Hosted by Shelly Campbell   Waterfront Centre; Admission $5.00 or $20.00 per family.

 

THURSDAY JULY 18th:

2-4 pm:                     Gaelic Presentation Details TBA

12:00 – 3:00 pm:       Free Public Swim at Fair Isle Motel; parental supervision required for 12 & under; no lifeguard /washroom facilities; all welcome.

6:00 -8:00 pm:          Waterfront Activities; Waterfront Centre featuring male & female doubles canoe races, barbecue, food truck, tug of war, children’s play area, campfire and more.

7:00 pm:                   Jam Session inside Waterfront Centre. $5 adm. Spectators and musicians welcome!

Dusk:                         Fireworks!

 

FRIDAY JULY 19th: 

11:00 am:                 Golf Tournament  – Baddeck Forks; includes barbecued chicken dinner at Waterfront Centre:  $75 per individual, or $300 per team. Contact 902-756-3580 to register.

3:00-4:00:                Teddy Bear Picnic; Whycocomagh Provincial Park; rain location at Whycocomagh Fire Hall. Theme: “Dare Bears with sky diving, bungee jumping and rock climbing” No charge.

7:00 pm:                   Milling Frolic at Cameron Hall; admission $7.00;  Under 12 free.

7:30-9:30 pm:           Chase the Ace, Whycocomagh Fire Department.

9:30 pm – 12 am      Pub Night Whycocomagh Fire Department; admission $10; 19+; Gov’t ID’s required; music by Darren Stevens

Saturday July 20th 

7:30 am:                  Breakfast St. Andrew’s Church Hall; admission $7 adults, $4 children;

12:00 Noon:           PARADE – Theme: Timeless Traditions. Floats to line up at Whycocomagh School at 11:30 am
Following Parade:  Village Street Fair on the Whycocomagh Waterfront – Music and skit by L’Arche Cape Breton, arm wrestling for 18 and under with Mark MacPhail, food, games, and more!

5:00-6:00                Take out Pork Chop BBQ Dinner at the Masonic Hall on Main Street. 

7:00-10:00:              Craft Beer Fest; 19+, Gov’t Id’s.  Waterfront Centre; $20.00 admission; includes Souvenir Glass. Entertainment and Snacks.
