CKNS Try Paddle – Whycocomagh

Five big canoes ranging from 26 to 29 ft., and capable of carrying 8-12 paddlers each, will be exploring various routes throughout the Bras d’Or / Pitu’paq region August 12-18. Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia (CKNS) spearheads the project in partnership with the Canadian Voyageur Brigade Society, and will include paddlers from across Canada. Home base for the first half of the brigade will be at the Battery Provincial Park in St. Peters, and for the last half of the brigade, crews will be at the Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground. Day trips are planned from each location. CKNS is offering a free, public, Try Paddle excursion in the big canoes at each location. Paddles and lifejackets will be provided for all ages, and trained big canoe leaders will be in each boat. No experience necessary.
